Appearance
Basophils in body fluid appear the same as seen in peripheral blood with their characteristic large dark purple granules.
Lookalikes
Mast cells can look similar to basophils with their numerous coarse basophilic granules. However, mast cells are larger than basophils and have a round nucleus.
