Neutrophil vacuolization is seen most often in inflammation or bacterial infection, as vacuoles indicate phagocytosis. They may be accompanied by dohle bodies or toxic granulation. They can also be seen artifactually as a result of cell degradation, especially if the sample is old.
Appearance
In neutrophil vacuolization, the cytoplasm contains vacuoles.
